GMoMOPP award goes to nerlA I know this is a joke and I go along with it all the time, but I dint get why I'm the only team singled out for being a one man team when I go through the same struggles as the other GMs. I lose players, sign others, make moves for others and game plan on the fly with injuries and still find ways to compete for the division for the full four seasons. I have been injured, nerfed, and beaten up but consistently a better team than most. There's that word "consistency" which doesn't weigh heavily in this award process. I'm not the only team that gets overlooked. There was the Hawks, Warriors, and Pacers in previous seasons but not a lot of people took them seriously as true GMOY candidates. Instead they get the pity 3rd place votes underneath the most improved teams. /me gets off soap box /me unzips to Balls next response

I don't understand why everyone needs this award to feel validated. You, Ben and Wig for example are some of the most respected GMs in the league. I promise you that respect carries more weight than the drug through the crapper GMOY award means now. Furthermore, one person gets it a year. It's only 3 years in.

I never campaigned myself for this award or considered myself the #1 favorite, would be ridiculous to assume and the other GMs you listed didn't either. It's respectable that they know they don't need the award because we all look forward to the playoffs instead of this award. It's just crazy that teams that were winners before are almost non-qualifiers.
I only brought up my team because I only speak for my team and the whole "NOLa. has only 1 player lol"

This thread is for nominating people and promoting oneself. I am officially removing myself from contention of this award. Quail will be instructed that any votes for me will simply count as a blank spot so make your votes count. Good luck everyone.
Wrong thread before sorry.

SPURS
I Didn't make a shitload of moves but 3 decisions I made help my team get where they are now
1. Resigned Danny Manning 2. Sign Kevin McHale who has helped with front court depth 3. Traded for Kevin Willis who has filled the hole I had at the 5 position since I've been a GM in the Sim League.
I know I haven't made a bunch of moves but I did what I needed to make my team better this year and filled voids that needed to be filled. You're the Spurs. You don't get to win shit, especially the Midwest Division. Funny How Motherfuckers talk shit when they start winning but when garbage don't say shit. But Here's footage of the Rockets GM addressing the crowd at tip off years before he lucked up and won the Shaq Sweepstakes.

Despite losing 4 of my 5 best players from last year, I still won 50 games tying for the pacific division title. I built up the MVP and DPOY. I moves an older guy in Harper for a 25 year old Dennis Scott. I traded the Hornets pick and picked up Cassell, the Pacers pick next year, and Bowie in doing so. The game picked me and you should agree. Vote BowToTheBill23 for GMOY*

I built up the MVP and dpoy lmfao. What a fucking hero Everyone else let him slip to 9 in the creation draft, picking guys like Karl Malone before him smh. I have created a perfect habitat for the youngster and that's why I deserve GMOY

Btw, I'm overruling Darth backing out of GMOY. He can whine all he wants, but he had a 50 win season and is 4th seed. Improved 30+ games. If he doesn't like it he can suck my dick.
Darth votes are welcome!

If gameplanning has a role in this award than the Kings should get consideration.

After being told that when I "pulled out" of the running it meant nothing and that people would be voting for me whether I liked it or not, I decided to state my case. I wanted to pull out simply to avoid the drama, I was tired of the drama. But that douchebag Doug said I needed to state my case so I typed a little something up.
Many feel I am a front runner for this award. Judging by ALL previous criteria that past GMOY have won off of, myself being a front runner would be a given. So why is it so different this year? Well I unfortunately do not have the answer for that. I'm not going to tear apart these GMs who think they deserve this award as they have done me ALL year long. I shouldn't win this award because I expected to win it in the beginning of the year. I should win it because I truly deserve it, and I deserve it more than anyone else does.
What is our jobs as SIM league GMs? Well as GM in this SIM league we do it all. We are owner, we are GM, we are coach. What's the number one goal? Winning a championship. That is definitely our goal here in Dallas. So in season one after the creation draft, I made it to the finals. I unfortunately ran into the powerhouse that was the Atlanta Hawks. The following season, Season 2, I made moves and did everything i could too improve my team. Hoping to get over that hump I hit last year. Well I improved in the regular season and won my division. Having high hopes of a long playoff run, I got demolished in the first round by the Warriors. I was seriously devastated. I didn't understand how it happened. Look at my team from S1 to S2 it was an obvious improvement. Yet couldn't even make the second round. So I had to take a step back a try and figure out why it happened. Both myself and the Warriors had what we would call "OP" players. I had the best PG in the league and he had Kemp. At that point I truly came to the conclusion that as long as Stockton was the focal point of my team I would never be a true contender. I needed bigs. I needed boards. I needed defense in my front court. Could I trade an aging Stockton and fix all of this? Of course not. So I decided to get as much possible value as I could and completely retool the roster, much like the Celtics had done before me. They sold off the talent after they knew they couldn't contend and collected 25 1st rounders(or close to that anyway..lol). They took a year to do it and we see how successful it has been. There are many ways to build a contender. This is the way I chose. You don't have to like it or agree with it but don't discredit it. It's legit and I did a damn good job at it. You gave it to Conroy the year after his rebuild and he made it to the 6th seed.
What did I do to get here? I'll briefly touch on the rebuild moves as they are very important to how I got here. Here are the moves:
92 Draft - Traded Eddie Johnson for #22 overall(Popeye Jones) and 8 pts 92 Draft - Traded 10 pts for #23 overall(Matt Geiger)
This will be very important to know later down this timeline.
Started Rebuild
Offseason - Traded Horace Grant and Derek Harper for Mookie Blaylock, Magic 93', and Magic 95' Excellent value for these guys as they were expiring soon anyway. Got valued picks AND my future starting PG Offseason - Traded John Stockton for Anthony Peeler, Bulls 94', and Mavs 94' Got valued picks AND my future starting SG During the Season - Traded Mark West for Pistons 95 Got excellent value for a backup big.
Ok so pieces we're moved, endured a very very painful season of losing and looked forward to the offseason. I had a very exact picture in my head of what I wanted my team to be. Bigs were my number one priority, and defense all around was just as important. I knew that in the past it was mainly offense winning these championships, but I wanted to have both and felt like it was definitely attainable. So in comes the draft and the offseason of this year.
This year's off-season - So I was naturally hoping for Webber but as we all know that didn't happen. This draft was pretty much a 2-man draft so I picked the other guy. Every other team in the league would have taken Penny in my position, so please don't give me GMOY points for that. So at that point I had Mookie, Anthony Peeler and Penny. My back court was looking nice and needed to focus on the front court. So I had enough cap space to easily sign 2 max players. And there were 2 players at the PF and C positions that I thought were worth max deals. The odds were not in my favor to get 2 max players, so I made sure I wasn't relying on chance. I quickly made a deal with the Bulls GM for a S&T involving Rony Seikaly. I decided I would go after my PF in Free Agency. I still had a hole at the 3 and decided to move up for Bryon Russell. Contrary to other media reports that's been published that perhaps I made a horrible choice and should have drafted Rider, Van Exel, or Radja....well I laugh at that report. If I could go back I'd make the exact same pick. Rider is a scoring 2 guard and NOTHING more and will never be more. Van Exel...LOL There's like 35 other Van Exels in this league. Point guards fall like rain in this league. And Radja...Great value pick at the 14th spot, but doesn't come remotely close to Russell in terms of talent and potential. Remember I was trying to build a contender for YEARS to come, not just a few. The defensive potential that Russell has will be invaluable over the next few years.
This year's offseason - Drafted Penny Hardaway This year's offseason - Traded 94 Bulls & 95 Magic for Bryon Russell This year's offseason - Traded Popeye Jones and Matt Geiger for Rony Seikaly(Looking at what I used to get these 2 guys, I basically got Rony for Eddie Johnson and 2 points) This year's offseason - Signed Horace Grant in Free Agency This year's offseason - Traded Mavs 96 for Robert Parrish Midseason - Traded Mookie Blaylock, Robert Parrish & Mavs 95 for Muresan, Webb, and Hornets 96(This was another "looking to the future" move. Traded a 50 yr old backup big for a rookie backup big with decent upside, and Mookie for Spud and a future pick(hopefully decent one). Midseason - Traded bunch of expiring scrubs & Pistons 95 for Joe Dumars( I wanted a tad bit more scoring so I went after Dumars and he's definitely answered)
So did I put myself in a position where I would be making lots of moves? Of course I did. Every rebuilding team will. Should I be favored more because I had to make so many moves? Well how about this...Who else in this league could have made more mistakes than I could have this year? No one. I put myself in a position purposefully in order to rebuild the team that I thought could be a contender. Sure I got Penny, but all these other moves were made by me and they have all paid off. I am holding the 4th seed in the West. I have the 2nd best point differential in the league. I have the BEST rebounding team in the league AND the BEST defense in the league(Which was a HUGE focus and obviously a huge success). Not to mention a very young team and am built for the future in mind. I have ZERO regrets at this point. I've also been playing around with my gameplan ALL year long. Go look. Drastic changes from week-to-week. Just playing around and seeing what works and what doesn't. I do think I deserve this award. I think I executed my plan beautifully, and I did it without foregoing my future. I won't have old declining players at the end of fat contracts. And lastly I will be a legitimate threat in the playoffs. I would be grateful if I received your vote.
