I'll go ahead and nominate Tray. Improved record by 22 games, had an awesome core of Miller and Smith already. But did a great job through the draft, trades, & Free Agency of replacing nearly all of the talent around them.

I'll nominate Conroy.
Not to take anything away from Tray, but Conroy didn't have the core in place that the Pistons did yet still improved by 18 games and is a sleeper to take the East title.
Good drafting, trading, and free agency in Boston. All while not being cap strapped for the foreseeable future. (My only knock on Tray, but it worked well for him this year)

(My only knock on Tray, but it worked well for him this year) I appreciate this breakdown because I need to vote for someone besides myself and I believe that Conroy may be that vote. Early projected favorites for this award were Coltsguy, Conroy, and myself. I think I was against Coltsguy getting the vote at first because after all he was the 5 seed in the East last year and advanced to the second round. For me, Coltsguy would have to run away with the East and the other two candidates would need to not quite reach the top of the mountain. I expected to be in the conversation after having a good draft (Laettner, Wesley), a decent FA period (Dudley and at the time Lang, albeit slight mistake on the salary front), and a couple of deals that strengthened my push (Adams, Catledge, West.) I never expected to take the division and the #1 seed, bettering my record by 22 games and moving up from last place in the very competitive Central Division. Conroy is a deserving candidate, but I think I should get the nod for your vote simply because I finished first in the conference. By that reasoning, voting for the computer's GMOY, BOWTOTHEBILL, isn't a bad vote either. Conroy should have been a cellar dweller and has turned that into a viable threat for the title in the East. Call it like you see it guys, but I think your #1 and #2 votes should be you ranking your own personal evaluation on who did a better job between Conroy and myself. Both are the most deserving in my opinion.

I unfortunately can't vote for myself as I feel I am most deserving. But I'll get my own second place vote and hopefully the rest of the league will not be biased and give me the first place nod I deserve. Did I have as many wins as the Pistons or the Celtics? No not quite, but it's not because we in Dallas didn't try. We decided to take a year to rebuild and well...the rebuild was a huge success. We traded away assets for great value. Have a great up and coming back court, and looking forward to a great draft. So in terms of what we were trying to do....we executed perfectly.
VOTE DARTH VEGITO GMOY!!!

I nominate myself because the award was named after me.
Also helps that I took a very young roster without a player in the starting lineup with more than 3 years experience to the playoffs. All while losing my best player for more than 20 games.
Drafting - check (best pick after the top 3 and after being heavily criticized)
Trading - check (1st for Isaiah, maxwell for Oakley)
Free Agency - check. made playoffs without committing long term financial suicide. (Robertson was a steal)

While I think Tray is very deserving (of your second place votes). I'll try to convince you why I should get your #1 votes. Tray had a core of an All NBA 2nd teamer and another star in Steve Smith. My returning core consisted of Doc Rivers, Reggie Theus, Cadillac Anderson, and Sean Elliot.
I got lucky in the draft then flipped a few picks and those bench players into stars Mitch and Clyde Drexler and also received a future potential top 10 pick, and another pick that missed the lotto by 1 game. I had a good FA and signing one long term contract to a guy who avgd 16 and 9 as a 4th option. I improved my record by 18 games, am in a very good cap situation, still have 3 1st round picks this year, and a potential high lotto pick next year, while still competing in the very difficult East.

Vote for me for third. I turned this team from a two rounds and out team into a legit title contender all through trades.

Honest question, should that matter? Is playoff success part of the criteria for this award? Would Tray or Conroy get docked points if they don't make it out of the second or first round? Will the votes have been cast before then?

Would Tray or Conroy get docked points if they don't make it out of the second or first round? Will the votes have been cast before then? Read his post. He said he went from a 2nd round and out to a contender. We don't know that. He could still be a second round and out team. So yes, when you use that as criteria; it matters. He has about a lot of other points to hit on. He just so happened to pick what in my opinion was a bad argument. Would Conroy or tray be docked for losing early ? Nope but the basis of their argument wasn't playoff related.

I should have phrased it better. Top 4 team record wise in the league probably would of been better. My bad.

I have four people I want vote for but I'm undecided on the three I will include and in what order. There were several East teams that turned around their fortunes by adding talent in multiple phases of the offseason and regular season and a West team that really stood out from the rest of the league in terms of performance.
Tray and his team went from "pushing for that 8th seed" last season to "fighting every sim for the 1st seed" and won it. After the Hawks lost a step and decided to take a season off the Central was up in the air for the first time to any team and Tray really set his team up well from the start of last offseason with two lottery picks who contributed and bolstered his frontcourt with some serious big guys. Patience, skill, and luck... the holy trinity in sim league.
Conroy is by far one of the luckiest owners in the league right now but he's matched his luck with an equal amount of personal success. After hitting that Top 2 protection that netted the beastly Zo Conroy had a few options available at the start of the season: take a crack at competing or continue the rebuild towards the 1993 draft. Remember when I said he is the luckiest owner in the league? Because this guy took a shot at competing by moving several assets for Clyde and Richmond and STILL has a potential top pick (will it be Webber) after the 76ers decided to Kamikaze.
Coltsguy is my other nominee from the East. He almost had the #1 seed locked up until the last sim of the regular season due to a tie-break owned by the Pistons (I know how much tie-breakers hurt right now). Still, this was a team last season with a limited ceiling that got bounced in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Now his team and the Pistons is a toss up to who the better team in the East is. I liked the trades he made this season to put himself into the conversation as a contender and since he made his key trades he had one of the best finishes and was fairly dominant in stretches.
Bow (BEN) is my only Western conference consideration was obvious reasons. It's not often a team can attain 62 wins and still not be the division champ, but it happened. Made several moves to add serious talent to his depth and is the best team in the league right now. 16 game improvement, 11 point differential average all season, and first time division champ with a new MVP not named Robinson. Don't understand why this owner has barely been mentioned at all, too much East slurpage?
