So I'm a playoff team now, and like, I kind of care after not caring at all. I should get at least one 3rd place vote for GMOY. Thank you for your time.

Without the trade with the 76ers (Ron Harper and PJ Brown) and signing Chris Mullin in the offseason, I have my first real foray into the Playoffs. Also made a big improvement from last season to this season. Already at Double digit win improvement.

Just a reminder on the rules...
•GM of the Year: you will vote for 3 options, clearly labelled #1, #2, and #3. The #1 option will receive 5pts, #2 option will receive 3pts, and #3 option will receive 1pt. The GM that receives the most points wins the award.
•Please remember to vote for who deserves this award and be as unbiased as possible. To ensure this, you are allowed to vote for your own player/yourself, but only as a #2 or #3 option.

Last year: Record: 36-46 Home: 29-12 Road: 7-34 Points for: 96.5 Points against: 99.2 11th team in east
This year (before last sim): Record: 48-30 Home: 30-10 Road: 18-20 Points for: 102.6 Points against: 96.9 5th in east (half game back from 4)
I resigned Hakeem and Payton. I drafted a center that I transitioned to power forward. Figured out a gameplan to use the team I have. I am under the salary cap.

Really hard vote this year. Don't have an obvious vote or someone ploying to win it. Are you trying to tempt me. Why, so you and Bow can lobby to get Jangles more votes? Because as of right now he's got my 2nd place vote, could move up to 1 with a good argument by you .

Well here's my go at the GMOY*. I don't think anyone in the league had a rougher start going into this season than I did. Karl got hit hard (2nd highest drop in league) in TC after I gave him a supermax contract, both of my team's PGs got injured, and I started 0-7 after my first sim. I had a severe lack of talent and my cap was maxed out for several seasons to come with the players I had on my team. This is the point where most GMs would have called this season a loss and possibly sell their team for pennies on the dollar and tank for KG. As most of the league can attest to I worked overtime to message everyone in the league about possible trade scenarios. It took time but over the course of the season leading up to the trade deadline I was able to swing deals that in effect resulted in this. Kings sent: | Kings received: | Karl Malone | Elden Campbell | Pooh Richardson | Rod Strickland | Will Perdue | Reggie Williams | Randy Brown | Nets 97 1st | Kings 95 1st | Hawks 97 1st | - | Dikembe Mutumbo |
I have been known to be more conservative with trading in the past, but given the situation I knew the only way my team could get better going forward would be to make moves now. The negotiations were tough and some took a week to settle but persistence pays off. I also made several smaller trades for depth concerns such as PG Kenny Anderson and SG Todd Lichti. The winning didn't happen right away either as I added more pieces. It took small steps towards improving my game plan and lineup and figuring out how to best utilize my new team in a small amount of time. Luckily I have experience playing competitively and picked the players I traded for carefully to make sure they mesh well with a gameplan I felt comfortable moving forward with. I've finally clinched my spot for the ticket to the big dance and look forward to whoever I face out of the Warriors, Mavs, Rockets, or Grizz. I may not be as strong as I was before but I have a healthy balance of players instead of a one-man wrecking ball. Hope to give one of those four above a good, hard fought series that we can talk about for seasons to come. Oh and if I were to nominate 3 people who are most deserving of the award it would be Nick Malone (Hornets), Soundwave (Raptors), and PaulyP (Pacers). All 3 are in the same division and have impressed the hell out of the league and played well above their expectations and more. Hats off to Nick for making his first playoffs as a full-time owner as well, it's a major accomplishment.

I don't think anyone in the league had a rougher start going into this season than I did. You would be dead wrong. Barkley = Hit Hard like Karl Magic = Hit Hard like Karl Barry = Hit Hard like Karl Sorry if I am unimpressed by your 1 player losing some ratings. After such a huge mountain of crap was thrown on the Raptors, we lose 2 of our top 3 players to injury. No, not regular injury, injury bad enough that both guys have only played 46 games this season. The odds were so stacked against the Raptors that it was universally declared in a podcast that if Toronto could stay within 2.5 games of Detroit that it would be a monumental recovery that would merit a GMOY award. Well, here we are. A handful of games left in the season and Toronto 2.5 games behind Detroit for the Central division crown. Close enough that the Pistons are sweating bullets heading into this sim. Are the Hornets in this position, no. Sure they had 1 injury, for a week, I had 2 for months. Are the Pacers in this position, No. Are the Heat in this position, No. Did any of them have to "defy the odds" as much as Toronto, HELL NO. You want to know how it was done, here it is. I didn't make any splashy moves in the offseason. I may have made the shrewdest moves though. I had built a team so deep that I could literally trade 2 backups for 3 good 1st round picks. And I still have a very good bench. How many other teams in this league can have a 6-1 sim with two of their top 3 out? I gave away a few points for the 19th pick and then traded that away for a future 1st. Making something out of nothing. I signed a player for 1 mil a season (who began the season injured too) to become my 6th man, and he has a PER of over 17. I picked up 3 very young and quick PF's for the minimum and all 3 were big targets for people around the deadline. (1 was moved) These look like small things on the surface, but the ability to make something out of nothing is a trait of teams with long term success and good management. No, I will not have a better record than last year, but it won't be worse. Staying the same with the challenges I have faced is amazing. As far as the other teams, with all the tanking going on in the league, You would have to expect any healthy team could improve if they had a losing record last season. Are they really that much better? Are they truly contenders? In summary I seriously doubt anyone has worked their team 1-15 as much as I have. I seriously doubt anyone has coached what they have as hard as I have. It is finally time to stop making this award ONLY about the most improved team. It is time to give it to a gm who hasn't fluked their way to the position they are in.

I'm leaning towards Conroy. He's the defending champ and had enough cap room to add Derrick Coleman and Tim Hardaway.
My 2nd place vote would be the computer for assembling the Knicks roster.
After that you have the Hornets, Grizzlies who really stand out but I can make a case for the Mavs as well adding Ewing and Pippen. The Heat and Clippers did well. The Warriors an Kings too.

Yeah, i mean i'm completely undecided on how i'll vote, but having older players on your roster taking hits doesn't really score more points from me. LJ taking massive dives and still going to 2 finals apperances never got me a single GMOY vote. I'm more impressed with the coaching which I give an A. the moves i give a C. Not to say someone else can't grade it differently. The reality is imo, we don't have anyone who put up a complete A effort in terms of moves and effort. So this thing is wide open.

I'm not expecting many votes this year being I won this award last year. BUT with that being said I SHOULD WIN THIS AWARD AGAIN!!!
I made HUGE moves in the offseason and greatly improved my team from last season. I have the best defense in the league for the second straight year AND am on track to finish the season with the best defense in PBSL history. I have the second best point differential in the league at +12.3. My team boasts top ten appearances in nearly every statistical category.
This award is for this year. I will finish with the 2nd seed in the western conference and will be the Midwest division champion. I am arguably the second best team in the league. I'm a true contender. This team is dominant and I don't do it by scoring 150 ppg. I built a defensive powerhouse and will be for years to come.
I won't explain why you shouldn't vote for these other guys. It's up to you. I trust your vote. Vote for a humble GM. VOTE FOR DARTH!!
