Mainly based on the discussions in the Free Agency Thread PLEASE!!! If looking at that back court gives you a semi, don't look at mine. You'll have a nice explosion in your pants. We're here for the party. So who has the better backcourt: Mavs or the Hawks? POLL FOR YOUR PLEASURE

We start with weaksauce anon and his 10 million posts.
This poll is just considering who has the best backcourt now and I have to give my vote to the Hawks but not by much when giving it a quick look. Of course the Mavs future looks bright as hell but Ellie, Newman, Williams, and Strickland are playing the best ball of their careers and hopefully no one takes a big hit in TC to their physical attributes.

Mavs have better potential with theirs, but Hawks is currently better. Hawks

I think the wildcard here is training camp. Dallas' backcourt has a lot of room to grow and if Mookie, Penny, and Russel improve in defense I might have to change my vote later.

So when we talk who has best we would be focusing on 4 guys on each team.
Hawks: Strickland Elie Newman Williams
Great Mavs: Mookie Penny Peeler Russell
So what I'll do is average the current rating for each backcourt.
Hawks: ISD:53 JSP:71 FTS:73 3PS:61 HND:59 PSG:46 ORB:30 DRB:30 PSD:30 PRD:64 STL:72 BLK:30
Great Mavs: ISD:53 JSP:61 FTS:71 3PS:70 HND:60 PSG:49 ORB:27 DRB:25 PSD:28 PRD:67 STL:72 BLK:26
The great Mavs have the better 3 point shooters, better ball handlers and passers, and better defenders. The things that are most important about a back court. AND we have youth...I'll take my back court for the future AND present. Ya'll should analyze a bit more before you simply click the Hawks box. #hatersgonnahatethough

I think the wildcard here is training camp. Dallas' backcourt has a lot of room to grow and if Mookie, Penny, and Russel improve in defense I might have to change my vote later. Pretty much this. The X-factor's training camp, because: Wig: -Has 4 proven commodities, but the only downside is that 3 of them are pushing 30, meaning that their decline is soon to come. -Has made sure that he won't pay large amounts of money to a 30+ player. For a guy with 4 double-blues on his team, he has a very nice amount of cap flexibility, both now and in the future. The only fly in the ointment is upcoming FA Rod Strickland, who will be 28 by then. Darth: -Has 4 talented guys, but 2 are rookies, and 3 are currently greens. -Has those 4 on rookie/cheap deals, which is excellent, but will eventually have some hard cap decisions down the road. Wig's set himself up to not only compete now, but also to be a major player in Free Agency by '95, because he can elect to step aside and let other GMs take the risk of signing a 31-year old Reggie Williams or Johnny Newman. Darth's set himself up for a great future, but things won't look so pretty if Peeler & Russell don't quite live up to expectations, or worse, continually show promise but never make that next step. If they do the latter, Darth will have a hard time deciding whether to pay up for potential himself, or let other GMs do it and possibly miss out on something good. Mookie will be an interesting case, because his contract expires at the same time as Penny & Bryon's. Should Mookie live up to his potential, Darth would need to find a promising backup to make the decision to let him go (because the contract he would get would extend into his 30s) easier. Basically, Wig wins because he can hit cruise control. His plan is already mapped out, there are very few unknowns, both on the court and with the cap. We have no idea what's gonna happen with Darth's squad, it all depends on who develops or not. Training camp should give us a slightly clearer picture on Darth's future.

Ok, since you asked, I'll include Fox. But it hardly seems fair.

I'm sorry but only comparing these two back courts. I ask you a question. I say you get to choose one back court. The contracts are meaningless. It's only for one year. Mavs or Hawks. Right now before TC. Knowing Hawks back court has good chance of declining and Mavs back court has great chance of improving. Sorry but your a bad GM if you take the Hawks back court. #yeahisaiditsosuemewhydontyou
