So three of my starters fouling out in Game 1 of the ECF to ultimately be out scored by ten in the 4th cost me
1) a shot at the title 2) the eastern conference championship (+8 points) and 3) the GMOY award (+15 points)
I was so clearly the best regular season choice and it's not like Conroy ran me out of the building in the ECF to take it from me. In order to really get over not winning an award that has meant a lot to me since the calls to boot me in the old league, I need to determine that points and what you guys think of me don't matter. Therefore, I'm done with the extras. I'll do my media session and I'll participate in others, but it's strictly business in Detroit from here on out.
This is horseshit and hopefully the offseason is long enough for me to work towards acceptance.
Congrats to Conroy again. You put up a compelling argument and a hell of a playoff run.

Tray I know you're not targeting this towards me (at least I hope not) but it's hard not to take it as an attack.
A few notes though in Game 1 of the ECF that you lost, you're 3 players that fouled out were Reggie Miller, Michael Adams and Christian Laettner. Reggie Miller your starting SF played 28 mins, Clyde Drexler my starting SF had 5 fouls and only played 27 mins. Michael Adams your starting PG played 36 mins; Jay Humphries my starting PG, fouled out after 27. Christian Laettner only played 3 less mins than Zo. And overall I was called for 35 fouls while you were called for 34.
I think another thing that helped me I made big moves that got people's attention. I didn't just draft Zo and hang on to my picks. I made two very big trades to try to contend right away and it worked. I signed Gilliam to a 1.4M contract and he was a key piece, you've got 3M tied up in a backup Center averaging 4ppg and 5rpg.
Maybe we need to define the award a little more. It seems to be some sort of combination of GM (signing, trading, drafting, etc...) and coaching (gameplanning in reg season, etc...) I think I did a better job of GMing and you did a better job of coaching. But you had Reggie Miller and Steve Smith you already knew the basis of your team. I started completely from scratch.

It's not an attack on you. You are forgetting the moves I made. I made trades and free agency moves for Dudley, Adams, Catledge, Lang and West, and drafted Laettner and Wesley. I completely turned over my roster for this season and if that isn't more than just coaching, then I don't know what is. You are oversimplifying my GM'ing. I don't know how my having Steve Smith is different than you hitting on the top two protection and getting Zo. Yours had the same slow build as mine except I won the Division and was a 4 game better improvement over last year. Miller was the #17 pick overall and I decided a long time ago he wasn't going anywhere. Lastly, I had the lead in game 1 before Miller fouled out which is ultimately the difference between the two things. I don't have a problem that they choose you as you can certainly see that you are well deserving, I'm just saying that if it was a regular season award, we wouldn't be having this debate.

I know it's frustrating man, but it's not that it was a landslide blowout win in Conroy's favor. The voting points were 56 - 55. I think all but 2 voted with Tray and Conroy 1 or 2 (and the one who vocally said his vote would go to Conroy didn't even vote).
Not that that is any more consoling, but it was close, man. I can't say if the playoffs were completely swaying opinions, because half the votes that came in since Sunday were in your favor (not Conroy's). All I'm saying is that award or no award, your future with your team is extremely bright and you did a helluva job this season improving your team.
I'll work better on my end to get votes in faster next year. Based off of last season, I left the window open a lot longer than I should've. Next year we may start opening votes 3 Sims before the end of the season and closing at the end of the season.

It was a tight year. I voted Tray and Conroy 1 and 2. I looked at it like this.
Draft Pistons Laettner Celtics Zo
Outcome: Tie, both picked the best player the could in their spot.
FA Pistons: Made some huge signings but also made 1 bad one. Celtics: Made some small moves.
Outcome: Pistons signed a difference maker and fortified their starting line-up but because of the bad contract I only give them a slight edge.
Trades: Pistons traded for Michael Adams and Mark West. Celtics got Drexler and Richmond
Outcome: Celtics win in a landslide.
Season Outcome: Pistons won the East Celtics Struggled a bit but made the playoffs after having the 2 pick
Outcome: Pistons win in a landslide.
So to me it was very, very close.

Not to be a smartass, but can you finish the pool points before you quit everything so I know for sure how many points I have to spend this offseason.

I haven't had a lot of opportunity to be on my computer. I think you won but I need to figure out the other guys at the same time. Give me until tomorrow and I'll have them posted.

Basically same reasoning I used. I can't hold the Lang contract against him: it should've been a fair contract before TC arbitrarily nerfed a 25-26 year old. The tiebreaker for me was that Conroy brought in stars while Tray brought in solid pieces. I think it was harder to bring in stars than it was to sign good players to big contracts in a season where a lot lf teams took FA off.

I honestly thought Lj deserved the 6th man award. But Gatling was just as good. Congrats to Loco.

Two big factors that determined these votes:
1) Clyde Drexler
2) LoCo's Photoshop skills

Good to see my controversial vote meant nothing. It wasn't personal Tray; you know I don't have a problem with you.
