In case you didn't know we now have "In-Season Negotiations" in this league. Basically every season around the 3rd or 4th sim I will be sending EVERY team private messages about their players who are wanting to negotiate. I will tell you how much each of those players are asking for and then you will answer that PM. Your options are as follows when replying to these negotiations: 1)Accept the deal that the said player is asking for. 2)Counter the deal with another offer. 3)End negotiations and the player will be a free agent at the end of the season.
Keep in mind, THIS is taking the place of that first round of Free Agency where only you can make offers to your own players. THIS is exactly that. Meaning if you fail to come to a deal with your player OR if you decide to low-ball your player and he decides to test free agency, the next time you will have a chance at him will be at the same time every other team will have a chance at him. So negotiate at your own risk.
I'm sure there will be lots of questions and many of which I will NOT be able to answer as this is my first time going thru this as well. I will answer what I can. Ask any and all questions in the Negotiations Q&A thread.

Wanted to clear a few misconceptions up. The contracts your players are asking for are for the total life of the contract NOT the starting year. Thought that was obvious but maybe not.
Also if you didn't get a message to negotiate with a certain player that means that player hasn't started negotiations. You CAN'T start negotiations. If they don't want to negotiate, you simply can't negotiate in season unless they ask you to.
And if you put in a counter offer and did NOT sign that player by the next SIM, that means they did not accept your offer. You may continue to negotiate though. Whatever offer you give them well stay on the table until you pull the offer our make a different offer.
