Beginning today until the last sim of the season, feel free to post stats, in-season achievements, moves made, pictures, biographies... Whatever it is that makes your yourself stand out above the rest of the GMs. Please keep your "pimping" relevant to the award thread you are in.
NEW RULE FOR THREADS: You are allowed to make one post about yourself (edits of your original post will be allowed). There will NOT be any goading or attacking other candidates to create nonsense drama like previous years. Any additional BS posted in threads will be deleted. The campaigning period officially ends when the sim occurs.
Voting period starts after the final sim of the season occurs and will be due by DC Lock of 1st playoff sim. No exceptions!

I don't deserve this award. With that being said, I'll nominate Logan and Tani and Doug for the three that deserve it the most. Tani for finally having his young roster emerge along with acquiring Stacey Augmon and Hubie Davis for a combined .50 on the dollar in terms of assets given up.
And the Heat stand to have there best season yet here in SLOE while doing almost the least with their roster outside of acquiring Tharon Mayes from the Bucks and having both Gary Payton and Jim Jackson (2 purps in the prime of their career) carrying the squad. Almost had one deadline day move that would have had DRob with Payton and Jackson that would have been fun to see had it not been nixed by literally a last second submission.
And Doug...For being Doug.
Those are my three suggestions for those that deserve it.

Here's your qualified nomination:
...WHAT GMOY STANDS FOR!
GMOY this season will only have one meaning: Nick Malone. He is the one who has come to champion the league and become the first ever 2-Time GMOY. My name is IamQuailman, and I am the advocate and campaign manager for Sir Nicholas Malone of the Charlotte Hornets. Let me answer your first question first >> Why, Quail, why would you campaign for a rival GM who has already won GMOY before? It's simple: compensation. For a small undisclosed fee, I have vowed my services to Nicholas. If I fail to make him GMOY, I do not get compensated. So we are going hard, and NOT going home.
Your next question >> Why Nick? Why the fuck heck would I vote for that guy? Because after J2, Nick Malone rivals for the nicest GM of all the Sim League lands. He's a genuine man who is humble beyond all quantifiable measurements. He is also frank. He's not afraid to call you Louis even if you hate it... not because he's ignoring your requests, but because he respects you so much that he wants you to use that as fuel to make yourself better.
But, Quail, what does that have to do with GMing? Surely GMOY takes into considerations actual achievements to win. Hell no. GMOY, since its inception, has always been measured on pre-season dick sucking contests, most improvement made and post-season success. If this award was based solely on in-season success, PaulyP, Conroy, and BowtotheBullshit would win it every season. Due to enormous amounts of salt deposits after some early races, the rules were tweaked to prevent post-season success from intervening in award voting*. Anyway, I digress. What exactly has Nick done this pre-season to make him so ERMEHGERDGMOY material? See Exhibit A below:
Yes, that is Brad Daugherty, an immovable behemoth contract, being moved on a boat to sunny Phoenix. (How exactly does a boat land in Phoenix? Nick doesn't give a fuck as long as Brad's gone.) In return, not only got a young point guard in Damon Stoudamire (in which he needed more than the Nuggets need cap relief), he got paid MAX POINTS for him. Not to mention, according to Sources, Damon Stoudamire has improved his quickness ten-fold in the off-season. What a freaking steal (you'll be saying that a lot with Damon this season).
Exhibit B: Jamal Mashburn comes IRL home. Mashburn was a real Hornets player in the real world. Not only does Nick care about building a strong, inside focused team... Nick cares about historical accuracy. Many scoff at Jamal's signing, calling it an "overpay". But when you got money (Nick saw a fortuneteller pre-FA and knew he was moving Fat Brad D.), he decided on making it rain on you sim league hoes. Gugliotta and Mashburn ain't nothing to fuck with.
Nick Malone isn't done yet. We are still awaiting the results of Round 3 of Free Agency and the looming training camp. We'll be touching on these and other things as Nick takes this Sim League season by the motherfucking CAJONES and becomes the frontrunner for GMOY.
Feeling pretty pumped about your ballot? I bet it looks like this right now:
It'll look like that at the end of the season too.
Just remember... #Nick4GMOY!
DON'T BE A DICK; VOTE FOR NICK.
* Asterisk for the sake of having an ironic asterisk.
F*CK NICK, VOTE DOUG

Ok, someone else talked me into withdrawing my withdrawl...
So here we go; this is why you should vote me GMOY:
1) Dedication -> over the past 4 seasons, I have dedicated my GM-ship to a rebuild. I knew it would be long, and I knew it would be hard. Rebuilding isn't something I'm trying to use to put me over the top, but the dedication to the team I had started the season with is. I entered into the season with a solid starting 5: Brandon, Rose, Fox, Grant, and Ilgauskas (along with 6th Man Bobby Phills). During the offseason, I committed to building depth around these players. This includes moving Tharon Mayes (and a future pick) for Eric Murdock and the Sonics 98 1st. This includes signing front court depth in bringing in two towers in Gheorghe Muresan and Dino Radja (who are both on reasonable deals). This includes trading in-season for more depth in Anthony Goldwire, more young and inexpensive depth with good upside. This is the core going into the season, and here I am at the end... with that same team. Staying the course is always hard for someone with a trade-itchy finger like me. Knowing when to stay pat is sometimes a good thing. And is a net positive for me.
2) Success -> 7 games shy of a 10 game improvement from last season (43 wins last year), but more importantly, 2 wins away from clinching Milwaukee's first ever division championship. This is a massive step for this organization, but we are not counting our chickens yet. However, when I began my rebuild, I told other GMs that my plan was to be at the top of the Central in 3-4 years. Well, if that is/was my goal, then this is a success.
3) Friendship -> I'm your friend. Even you, Nick, Who stabbed me in the back... I love you, friend.
With these reasons, you should vote for me for GMOY. It's been a long, hard, tumultuous road to where I am now. But this season, I took the reigns and made it the best I could.

As you can see, I've built a well-rounded, team-oriented squad who share the ball, defend, and shoot efficiently. What more else is there to ask for?

My team has finally achieved all of its goals that I had set in place before the season began, so I will officially throw my name in the hat. I’ll try to keep this as short as possible. Over the last two previous seasons, my team was in the midst of a full on rebuild as I actively shopped around and sold off every piece of the team I had assembled when we started the creation draft. The record was ugly as we went 40-124, possibly the worst team in that stretch of time, but from the beginning of it all I told everyone that the Kings organization and myself would be patient with our rebuild as we were going to do it right. There are a few things that a GM needs to do to put his team in the best situation possible for both short and long term focus: draft well, sign players that will contribute while keeping cap flexibility, set the best game plan and lineup for your team, and make trades that are necessary to better yourself. I think I achieved all of the following and exceeded everyone’s expectations, including my own. Something that I am more proud of is that my vision and plan for the team hasn’t always met the approval of by the league. One of those moments was when I offered a max to Popeye Jones or traded for Hubie Brown, but both situations I felt my vision for them came through and never had to defend my actions with words, just results. Here’s a list of my moves and stats this season: Player's Drafted | Tracy McGrady | Anthony Johnson | Antonio Daniels |
Player's Signed in FA | Brian Shaw | Kenny Smith | Magic Johnson | Bison Dele | Haywoode Workman |
|
Players Moved | Brian Shaw | Haywoode Workman | Erick Strickland | Anthony Johnson |
|
Players Brought In | Stacey Augmon (leading scorer in league) | Hubert Davis (#4 in 3P%, 6MOY candidate) |
Made smart moves in my opinion and have a potential lotto pick in the 76ers 98, setting my team up to grab a solid young player in a deep draft and able to retain Augmon and Davis for another two seasons after this. I did not make moves to make my team a contender for 1 season, I've made moves to make my team a contender for many seasons to come. I have two faces of the franchise in Camby and McGrady, another great pick this draft, Stacey and Hubert to shore up my talent on the wings, and Popeye Jones as a very underrated defender and rebounder.
Key Stats: 30-Win Improvement (only the 2nd time this has ever happened; Mavs) Top 5 in Offensive and Defensive Efficiency (#5 and #4 respectively) #2 in Rebound% (behind the mighty Mavs) #13 in TO% (a category I have always been in the bottom 3 since league started, biggest improvement to date) #1 in oPPG 1 of 4 teams with a winning record on the road (Mavs, Celts, Warriors, and Kings - the other 3 are division leaders) #4 in Point Differential (same list as above)
Happy to be an active member of the best sim league on the internet, and just as happy as raising a team from the cellars to a top 4 team in the league. If you guys haven't already seen, which is impossible, I've kept up with a report for each and every sim this season plus detailed every move I've made as well. I may not give away secrets, but I do give a thorough look into how I plan my team out. Nothing was random or shit thrown at the wall. fbbsimleague.proboards.com/thread/1781/sacramento-kings-report
