Welcome back for our next episode of the Tri-Weekly Pre-Sim Pick 'Em Panel! Before every sim, I will message 1 GM from each division and ask them to participate in this panel. I will present them with 6 match-ups each week. Each will then be tasked with the chance to pick the winners of each of their matchups. On top of those 6 picks, they will also have 1 wildcard pick, where they can pick their favorite match-up from the sim. On top of picking the winners, they must provide an argument for each pick (a few sentences would be fine).
Incentive: Everyone who participates will get 1 point to add to their media/article write-ups. At the end of the season, I will tally the total of correct picks from each panelist and note that in their division totals. At the end of the regular season, the division with the highest total number of correct picks WINS! The prize for winning you may ask? Each team in that division will receive 5 points as a reward. These points do NOT count towards the 10-pt article max... so it's another avenue for earning training points. (My picks won't count towards the Central Division). One caveat, if you do not participate in a panel, you don't get 5 points if your division wins.
Once the thread is posted, the participants are welcome to post their arguments for their picks WITHIN ONE POST (please). After everyone posts their picks, I will post up mine before the sim.
Let's get started on Sim 2: 12/13 - 12/26!
This sim's invited participants are...
From the Central Division... Pauly P (Indiana Pacers). From the Atlantic Division... coltsguy510 (Orlando Magic). From the Midwest Division... Eazy P (San Antonio Spurs). From the Pacific Division... NOLa. (Sacramento Kings).
Don't worry, everyone will get their chance to participate!
So... onto the picks!
12/13 - Kings @ Bucks 12/15 - Jazz @ Grizzlies 12/21 - Cavaliers @ Raptors 12/22 - Blazers @ Sonics 12/24 - Pistons @ Warriors 12/26 - Pacers @ Magic
PLUS your wildcard pick!
So, panelists... ball is in your court! Post up your picks!
(All others, please refrain from posting until after all picks are in... THANKS!)

12/13 - Kings @ Bucks
Bucks - It's a battle of the defenses. The Bucks top rated D vs the Kings 3rd overall. Honestly, this one was tough for me to pick. I don't think the Bucks can effectively sedate the beast that is Karl Malone. But, the Quail's balanced team and the fact that they have home court advantage gives them the edge.
12/15 - Jazz @ Grizzlies
Jazz - This comes down to Jordan. The man guarding him is gonna be Rolando Blackman. Not the best matchup for the Grizzlies. Add in the fact that the Grizzlies haven't been great at home, the Jazz win this one.
12/21 - Cavaliers @ Raptors
Raptors - I was going to go Cavs and, if it wasn't for Wilkins being out, I probably would have. But, the Cavs have been dismal on the road with a 1-8 record. I also think the Raptors rookie duo is too much for the Cavs to handle.
12/22 - Blazers @ Sonics
Blazers - I think the Blazers are underachieving and don't think the Sonics are good. The Blazers backcourt beats the Sonics.
12/24 - Pistons @ Warriors
Warriors - These two teams match up well. They each have a strong 1-4 but are lacking a good C. I think that Harper and Smith will negate each other's effectiveness and that Miller and Kemp should win their match ups. I think it comes down to Kemp having the best matchup of the core players for each team. Also it doesn't hurt that the Warriors are at home.
12/26 - Pacers @ Magic
Magic - Bitch please!
WILD CARD 12/17 - Nets at Bulls
Nets - These two teams should be competing for the higher seed in the playoffs all season long. It's gonna come down to the Nets overall balance along their team. They have a great D and a solid O, whereas the Bulls O is very good, but their defense is average at best.

12/13 Kings @ Bucks (FUN FACT: This exact day was my first day on the planet) Winner: Bucks The Bucks are a much more well rounded team, they need to contain Malone a bit and the newly acquired Williams. On offense Dell Curry should have a big game and Willis should dominate the Center battle. Plus the Bucks are home so thats always nice.
12/15 Jazz @ Grizzlies Winner: Jazz The injury to Mark Jackson really hampers down the Grizz offensive force. Old Rolando Blackman cant be counted upon to stop the best player that ever lived on defense so expect MJ to go off and score about 40. If VanMemphis can get into their offense and give it down low to Daugherty and Gatling than they have a good chance but gonna go with MJ and his cronies here.
12/21 Cavaliers @ Raptors Winner: Raptors The Raptors have been disappointing thus far, theres some talent on this team and I think they'll put it together to take down a Cavs squad that is still without 'Nique. Expecting the rookie duo of Barry and Davis to have really good games. Barkley may put on a herculean effort against Coleman, not sure if that will be enough however.
12/22 Blazers @ Sonics Winner: Trail Blazers Blazers just have more talented players on their squad. Elie, McMillan, Porter. The Sonics have Brandon, Christie, and Murray who are either 1st or 2nd year players and not ready to lead their team to wins on their own.
12/24 Pistons @ Warriors Winner: Pistons Detroit will close off the boards for Kemp, minimizing his effectiveness on the glass. If Smith can give anything on Defense that would be very helpful in getting his team the win here. If Newman and Harper can be kept under 20 a piece the Pistons will have no trouble.
12/26 Pacers @ Magic Winner: Pacers Hopefully my team will win so Coltsguy will become less delusional about the quality of his team. And no, Coltsguy, even if you beat me again that does not make your team better than mine. My team when fully healthy is much better than yours. This one game does not prove anything but feel free to run your mouth some more if thats what you need to do.
*WILDCARD PICK* 12/17 Timberwolves @ Wizards Winner: Wizards Battle of some bad teams, Wiz have more star power and they have homecourt, gonna go with them.

12/13 - Kings @ Bucks Kings. I get the joy of having to go on the road again and face the division leading Bucks and their crazy you-can-only-play-C -for-us-if-you're-over-the-age-of-30 policy. The Bucks are a good team and they will probably end up on top of the division at the end of the season, but I really like my teams chances with Malone and his support cast. I really like this game because we both do the same things well with a couple of small differences, so I think whoever makes the least amount of mistakes and gets second chance points puts themselves in a good spot to win. And that team is the Kings. 12/15 - Jazz @ Grizzlies Grizzlies. The Jazz and the superpower that is MJ made a leap in the standings after going iirc 5-1 and is now the only team in the Midwest to be over .500. The Grizzlies continue to baffle their owner with inconsistent results and a few bad performances at home, which is odd for this team but understandable with Jackson out. However, the Grizz frontcourt is one of the toughest and strongest in the league and against the Jazz, who don't have size outside of Bowie, at home is the perfect opportunity for the Grizz to win a game that may be important down the road. 12/21 - Cavaliers @ Raptors Raptors. Wilkins is still a month away from coming back but the Cavs have hung in there while they wait patiently for his return. The Raptors, on the other hand, started off well but has since seen drop in performance with a couple of losing streaks. I give the Raptors the edge here because of a healthy team and the fact that the Cavs are 1-8 away and is about to hit the road for a stretch of games. 12/22 - Blazers @ Sonics Blazers. Interesting game between divisional opponents. The Sonics just don't have the talent yet because their best players are rookies or coming off their rookie season and haven't had the time to grow, but they also don't have any talent outside a select core of players. The Blazers, on the other hand, have a solid group of talented players which is good for the new management. They could seriously use a center that can rebound and defend and if they did they would probably see noticeable improvement. 12/24 - Pistons @ Warriors Warriors. Not the easiest pick at all but I am confident in this matchup. The Warriors have proven to be tough to play at home, and while I don't agree with the owners self-proclaimed possibility of 41-0 I do think he will finish with a strong home record regardless. The Pistons have a nice blend of talent and depth and is proving to be a legit contender in the East, but their performance against the Pacific Division is 0-4 (vs Clips, vs. Blazers, @ Kings, @ Lakers) and going away to Oakland doesn't help. 12/26 - Pacers @ Magic Pacers. Changed after the trade because Ewing going to fuck shit up. WILDCARD 12/18- Sonics @ Hawks Hawks. Softball lob haha but if this pick isn't right then I might have to proclaim new Eastern Champ

12/13 - Kings @ Bucks Kings - This pick was hard because both teams are evenly matched. Both average 102 points per game and allow opponents to score around the amount of points. (Kings 96.1, Bucks 95.3) The reason I gave the Kings the edge was because of Karl Malone. I know first hand what he can do. He scored 51 pts and collected 11 boards against my Spurs. The only way the bucks can stop Malone is if they somehow import the real life Dennis Rodman into the Sim file.
12/15 - Jazz @ Grizzlies Jazz - Jazz will win this one because of Michael Jordan. The Rolando Blackman match up will be a nightmare. Judging from Blackman's defensive attributes this gonna be a long day for him. The Mark Jackson injury doesn't help the Grizz either.
12/21 - Cavaliers @ Raptors Cavs - This Game could go either way but I gave the Cavs the advantage even though Dominique Wilkins is injured. The Raptors are 1-6 in the last 6 games averaging 94 ppg and allowing 106 ppg. I see Barkley putting up a good performance . 12/22 - Blazers @ Sonics Blazers - Sonics lack talent and that Blazers back court with the combination of Mario Elie and Hot Rod Williams will be the difference in this game.
12/24 - Pistons @ Warriors Pistons - These teams are so evenly Matched. I had to eye fuck their rosters and find something tacky deficiency to pick a winner. I picked the Pistons only because their 3 centers average more points and rebounds than the Warriors. This game could go either way though.
12/26 - Pacers @ Magic Magic - The Magic started their turn around against the Pacers and will continue their winning ways. Pacer gave up 122 points to the Magic (the most given up this season by their defense) and that was with Strickland having a bad game. I don't see Strickland putting up those pedestrian numbers again.
Wildcard pick
Nets Vs Wizards Nets - N-E-T-S, Nets, Nets, Nets!!!!! I needed a easy game to pick from. Even though RPF is a bitch his team is pretty good. He is getting contributions from every position. I thought the Strickland and Harper trade was going to cripple his team but they have got better. I believe the Nets will win this game and RPF will talk shit like Richard Sherman.

I don't agree with the owners self-proclaimed possibility of 41-0 Absolute lie. I say that I've been very good at home so far, undefeated actually, that facing a team of similar talent, I expect to win at home. I don't understand how ya'll twist it into saying I'm projecting 41-0, but whatever.

If I recall correctly, your team was fully healthy when I beat you. And how about you stop being a pussy about the loss and accept that I beat you. If you beat me, that will suck, but I'm not gonna go out proclaiming that my team is amazing and your team is sooo much worse than mine.

And I know you think I'm a punk for building my team up in the preseason, but I think I deserved it. I was the joke of the last league. I came into this league finally knowing how to run a team and gradually turned my team into a contender without any game changing draft picks. I started out with Glen rice and some average players around him. No one thought I was gonna anything. But, I turned Kendall Gill and some future firsts into Horace Grant and Derek Harper. I turned what would end up being bison dele and Tyrone hill into Rod Strickland and Olden Polynice. So yeah, I think I deserved to fluff up my team a little bit.

They were a combined 75-89 on the road. The Sixers were 25 GB of the Hawks. My point is...shit happens.

Oh snap! All the picks were in and I didn't even make mine yet. So I'll make these short and sweet.
12/13 - Kings @ Bucks Bucks have everything to prove against a year-in, year-out defensive threat. Can the Central beat the Pacific? Heart says yes; mind says NERP. Winner - Kings 12/15 - Jazz @ Grizzlies
Jazz have been on a roll as of late; Grizzlies... not so much. Daugherty and Gatling will dominate up front since the Jazz don't have a deep front court... then again who needs a supporting cast when you got the One-Man Band, MJ and his roadie, Sherman Douglas? Winner - Jazz
12/21 - Cavaliers @ Raptors
A battle of Off-Season Potential Powerhouses has turned into (due to youth and injuries) a match-up of Regular Season snooze fest. That said, these two teams are a gameplan tweak away from playoff participants, as they are within 2 games of the 8th seed. But it's WAAAAAAAAAAAY too early to talk playoffs. I think the Raptors out-man the Cavs in this matchup, with the Cavs taking the next matchup (after they get healthy). Winner - Raptors
12/22 - Blazers @ Sonics Teams of tomorrow battle for a win today. Both teams have promising pieces in their backcourt.... the Blazers moreso than the Sonics. NOLa can chalk another win up for the Pacific division regardless. Winner - Blazers
12/24 - Pistons @ Warriors Probably one of the most anticipated matchups of this sim (I think with even a point bet on the line). If the Warriors GM can overcome their grounding from the internet for flashing is strap-on during a pep rally, they (in theory) should win this because they are at home. This game will be a shoot-out and come down to who wins the rebounding battle and the turnover battle. Winner - Warriors
12/26 - Pacers @ Magic One of the most-heated, budding new rivalries taking the league by storm. The Magic saying "Hold ma Dick" to the Pacers saying "Come at me, bro". After the latest trades though, the Magic are short on bigs, and the Pacers will be the one saying "How's ma ass taste". Winner - Pacers
WILDCARD: 12/22 - Hawks @ Lakers It'll be interesting to see how the Hawks adjust with their new acquisitions, but I don't think it'll matter against the Lakers as they have proven to be an unstoppable force. Winner - Lakers
Tune in later for the results and standings for your division!
