Mock Draft, Round Two:
30. C Brad Daugherty (went: 26 to the Grizzlies)
31. SG Dell Curry (went: 28 to the Bucks)
32. PG Michael Adams (went: 42 to the Pistons)
33. PG Mark Price (went: 22 to the Spurs)
34. SF Glen Rice (went: 20 to the Magic)
35. C Robert Parish (went: 64 to the Pelicans) - Great value for a third round pick, probably fell due to age.
36. C Vlade Divac (went: 43 to the 76ers)
37. PF Cliff Robinson (went: 59 to the Nets) - Fell just out of round two
38. SG Ricky Pierce (went: 48 to the Pacers)
39. SG Mario Elie (went: 63 to the Blazers) - Great value pick, tough to know why he fell so far.
40. PG Mark Jackson (went: 33 to the Grizzlies)
41. C Rony Seikaly (went: 39 to the Magic)
42. PG Brian Shaw (went: 52 to the Nuggets)
43. SG Kendall Gill (went: 68 to the Magic) - Another great value pick in round three.
44. PF Horace Grant (went: 54 to the Wizards)
45. PG Doc Rivers (went: 70 to the Celtics) - Another great value pick in round three.
46. PF Danny Manning (went: 66 to the Spurs)
47. C Moses Malone (went: 97 to the Hawks) - Excellent value for a Round 4 pick; like Parish, age caused him to fall, I'm sure. Astute observers will note I didn't pick him with my third round pick, so I let him fall, too.
48. PG Pooh Richardson (went: 51 to the Kings)
49. C Sam Perkins (went: 65 to the Clippers)
50. PG Spud Webb (went: 53 to the Timberwolves)
51. PG Sedale Threatt (went: 99 to the Bulls) - Another great Round 4 pick.
52. PG Sherman Douglas (went: 58 to the Jazz)
53. PG Muggsy Bogues (went: 50 to the Warriors)
54. PF Larry Nance (went: 82 to the Timberwolves) - Went a round later than he probably should have.
55. C Kevin Willis (went: 60 to the Bucks)
56. PG Isiah Thomas (went: 38 to the Sonics) - Somewhat of a reach pick; drafted at the start of round 2 and should have been drafted at the end of round 2.
57. SG Danny Ainge (went: 55 to the Suns)
58. SG Johnny Newman (went: 47 to the Bulls)
Players picked in Round 2 that don't appear here (and where they ARE slotted on my board) - obviously, I consider most of these to be reaches.
59. SG Reggie Lewis (went: 44 to the Cavaliers) - A bit of a reach, but not horrible.
64. PF Roy Tarpley (went: 56 to the Knicks) - This one I DON'T consider a reach; picking a "high third round" guy with an "end of the second round" pick is fine.
65. PG Kenny Smith (went: 32 to the Rockets) - I blame this pick for starting the trend this round of looking at scoring but missing the fact that the player doesn't bring a lot of other skills to the table. Round two is way too early to pick one-dimensional scorer/shooter types; I think you still need well-rounded players in Round 2. One-dimensional players are Round 3 territory. I can't even blame the draft order for this one... it's one thing if you get a guy at #32 because you're not picking again until #86 or so due to a standard snake draft, but the Rockets were going to draft again at the start of round three and Smith might still have been there!
68. SG Steve Kerr (went: 45 to the Mavericks) - See remarks on Kenny Smith.
73. PG Derek Harper (went: 35 to the Pelicans) - Harper is a "classic" point guard in that he scores, passes, and defends, but couldn't rebound in an empty gym. I need a *little* help on the glass from a second-round pick even if he is a point guard.
86. PG Mookie Blaylock (went: 46 to the Lakers) - A lot like Harper, only with more defense and less scoring.
89. C Benoit Benjamin (went: 40 to the Raptors) - Plays post defense and rebounds the ball defensively... but that's it. I need more from my #2 star.
105. SG Drazen Petrovic (went: 37 to the Spurs) - See remarks on Kenny Smith.
106. SG Joe Dumars (went: 41 to the Celtics) - Derek Harper with better offense and worse defense.
115. PG B.J. Armstrong (went: 36 to the Clippers) - See remarks on Kenny Smith.
138. SF Eddie Johnson (went: 57 to the Heat) - Biggest reach, see remarks on Kenny Smith.
I can't post my Round Three Mock yet... because some guys are still on the board!
