Backup SF is also up for grabs. Battle between Kenny "Sky" Walker, rookie Brian Howard, and veteran Mike Sanders. Eric "Sleepy" Floyd will be the backup PG/SG in his 6th man role.

Definitely a rebuilding season with 2 rookies starting and 2 rookies getting heavy minutes off the bench. Not sure if the team will surpass last season's win total of 24.

Anyway, not much going on in H-town since the draft. Excitement has waned since Shaq was drafted. Only one FA has signed and that's Sedale Threat. He was supposed to be the backup combo guard behind Hawkins and Kenny Anderson, but he should start at the point over that overrated Kenny Anderson. Dude wasn't even a top 5 rookie despite being drafted 4th overall.
Failed at getting Cedric Ceballos, Elden Campbell, Duane Causewell, Marcus Liberty, and Kevin McHale. 1 for 6 in FA. Is this team on a shoestring budget?
Well, at least they have Shaq for now until he decides to leave for greener pastures just like Hersey and Chris Morris will. I know Causwell, Kenny Smith, and McHale are happy to be long gone. I'm sure McHale and Causwell chuckled subtly when offered a contract to stay in H-town. They were both offered a million less than what they got.
And Lowell Ramos says he's not greedy, but he sure as hell doesn't care about winning. He says the economy isn't good in H-town, but this is a large market with good fans. Frankly the fans deserved Shaq, not Ramos.

I've heard Charlotte is open to acquiring any unhappy members of the Houston Rockets roster.

They haven't gameplanned themselves out of a wet paper bag more or less win games. Don't get me wrong, Shaq is great and the team is really lucky he fell into their laps, but this franchise hasn't sniffed 30 wins in a season so I'm definitely gonna say the jury is out when it comes to this team winning games. Listen, the starting 5 looks to be good, but what about the depth? What about just bringing in one player in free agency so far?

Jack Markson, Golden Take. What do you think Shaq will average year one? Do you think he is a lock for ROY?

Where do you see yourself finishing in the 14 team Western Conference?

Jack Markson, Golden Take. What do you think Shaq will average year one? Do you think he is a lock for ROY? Well, don't be surprised if this pathetic franchise drags Shaq down with them. He should be a 20/10 guy right away with his physical gifts but I'm sure the coach will share his minutes with his favorite pet Pete Chilcutt and cost him ROY. I can just see this team constantly pressing and getting Shaq in foul trouble.

Where do you see yourself finishing in the 14 team Western Conference? Honestly, this team looks better on paper compared to last season besides just Shaq. Sedale Threatt gives them another strong backcourt player. Rod Higgins is a legit backup SF and Jon Koncak and Grant Long are veterans who will provide minutes. Roster is deeper overall. However, can the coaching staff get the most of this group. The Midwest division is not that strong right now and outside of a few teams in the Pacific, this roster looks competitive. Playoffs should be the goal, but coaching is an issue so I don't have them in the top 8.

So Grant Long, Jon Koncak, and Rod Higgins are on the roster. Can't complain. Look to be solid roster additions. Actually, starting Long at PF instead of Dele doesn't seem like a bad idea since Long can do a bit more while Dele plays similar to Shaq and clogs the lane. Koncak is a solid backup center and Higgins can score off the bench. Not bad for this season.

Would this season be a good chance to see if you can make a push for the playoffs being that the Midwest has grown weaker? Shaq certainly would be the player to be able to do so.

The front office must think so with the signing of 4 veterans in FA. Last year, this was the youngest team in the league and the acquisitions were 5 draft picks and two FAs who were 24 and 22. Looks like drafting Shaq definitely led to a change in direction with the team signing veterans to fill holes even in the starting lineup. The roster is more solid across the board and with the Midwest being weaker, good gameplanning could easily land a playoff spot.

Dele had a pretty solid rookie season for you, how do you plan to use him now that your Rockets run on Diesel fuel?

Dele was solid, but he didn't progress in the offseason and the Rockets signed Grant Long and Jon Koncak so I don't expect him to get more than a backup's minutes. Disappointing and doesn't appear to be a long-term solution.

Maybe he'll do better for you, but I'd recommend giving Dele those minutes, thus giving him the opportunity to develop further and become a dependable long-term backup to Shaq.

LOL 0-7 start! This franchise could tank for CWebb, Kareem, Wilt, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy and still be terrible. Seriously, contract this team and put me out of my misery!!!!

But seriously, if this team wants to compete this year, they need to go at least 5-2 in the next two weeks. Can't afford another bad stretch.

4-3 this sim was not bad. Kenny Anderson barely played and that's a good thing. Rockets need to trade Rod Higgins and Kenny Anderson. Nice to see Jeff Granger and Derrick Gervin play well off the bench. Sedale Threatt had a good sim and seems to be more reliable scoring wise than Hersey Hawkins.

Can Rod Higgins play the SG? Need to find out even though Jeff Grayer did well off the bench. Higgins may give up some quickness and defense, but can score more.
