The United States Olympic Basketball Committee has released a statement today concerning the revealing of the 1996 United States Men Basketball Team. The team will be coached by Lenny Wilkens. The roster has not been revealed yet, but will be voted on by a committee of NBA general managers. The team expects to repeat the success of the 1992 squad, named “The Dream Team.” There are currently 25 players being considered for 12 available spots. US Men's Coach Lenny Wilkens Once voting for the starting squad is done, votes will be held for the reserves and then two wild card positions. There are several players considered locks for the team, among them Shawn Kemp, David Robinson, Alonzo Mourning, and Stacey Augmon. When asked to comment on the voting process, Coach Wilkens said, “I think that no matter who is selected, we have a great chance of successfully representing our great nation on our home soil.” The 1992 "Dream Team." The 1996 team hopes to replicate their success. The 1996 Olympic Games will be held in Atlanta, Georgia. America last hosted the Olympic games in 1984, in Los Angeles.
