Good evening fellow sim leaguers. Sometimes we get caught up talking about who's great and really forget what runs this league: Bad trades, disappointing TCs, and terrible play. Today I'm naming the All Disappointment team thus far into the season. Please feel free if you think i've made an error and let me know who you think has been more disappointing than these scrubs!
Summary:
Silver tongued Mavs GM was on his game when he made this trade. Not only is Ewing 33 years old on the worst contract in the league, but he's also a declining asset and got the Charlotte GM to beg him to take this F- asset of his hands. Patrick has suffered a fall from grace never seen before in the league. Last year he was on a finals team who was part of one of the best defenses this league has ever seen; this year he's on an underachieving Charlotte Hornets squad still scratching and clawing just to be mentioned in the playoff race. It's hard to to blame Pat on this as he's proving the 'Ewing theory' to be true. Ewing is shooting a near 10% lower in total FG% which doesn't eclipse the 40% mark at the 5 spot. Seem bad? Let me show you something worse:
Karl Malone
SF:
Rick Fox
Summary:
One of the few guys on this list who aren't aging disappointments, Rick Fox takes the starting SF position for the All Disappointment team. Fox was a guy highly sought after by the Milwaukee Buck organization last offseason. In fact, the Raptors owner stated he was called every hour for 4 straight days; but like all things in Milwaukee, everything that's hot gets cold, real quick. After signing a team friendly contract, the Bucks stabbed Fox in the back after about 3/4 of a season, and called it quits with Fox. The Bucks moved him to a struggling Denver Nuggets team. Fox is shooting a frigid .387 from the field and only scoring 11.2 ppg. There is a bright side though, Fox is just 26 years old and has shown a back for being a tough-nosed defender. While it looks like his chance to be a game changer is bleak, Fox still has the ability to be a strong role-player and a change of scenery may just be what he needs.
Michael Jordan
Summary:
The greatest player to never win a championship.
Is he a winner?
Quit on his team in the WCF.
Not a team player.
Don't wanna be like Mike.
These are all the things being said about this bizzaro-world Michael Jordan. After years and year of single-handedly carrying these Jazz teams, last year MJ finally wavered and showed he just can't do it anymore. It seems like Jazz GM heard him loud and clear and brought in Karl Malone to help. Unfortunately, MJ has never had to do it with anyone else and now he's trying to learn with his athleticism fading. While Jordan is still scoring a respectable 20 ppg, his PER has dropped to a barely above average 17.4 and his PPS to 1.04. While I don't believe anyone is going to count out the MJ and Malone combo for playoffs, I don't think a championship is in the cards.
Tim Hardaway
Summary:
This one is the most personally shocking to me. Tim Hardaway was the 'fuck you' to the league from the Celtics GM last year after winning his first championship, and everything worked out. Hardaway co-lead the the Celtics to back-to-back championships. That was then and this is now. Hardaway is another former all star who's FG% has dropped near 10%. While he's still posting solid raw numbers, his inefficiency and turnovers have to really be troubling the Celtics GM. If the Celtics want to have a 3 peat, they'll have to hope that Hardaway remember it's the Killer Crossover, not the Killer Turnover.
Ron Harper
Summary:
When the Rockets made the deal for Harper, it seemed like a home-run. They traded a quickly declining Detlef Schrempf and still green Dino Radja for Ron Harper who looked to be a potent scoring guard next to Hawkins who could help take the scoring load off of Shaq and finally make the finals. Unfortunately, Harper has really struggled to gel with his new teammates and the Rockets despite being shoe ins for the playoffs are clinging on to the 7 seed. The Rockets really needed an efficient scorer who could move the ball, and Harper has been the opposite.
Center:
Patrick Ewing

PF:
Karl Malone
Summary:
The once considered OP player is another victim of the All Disappointment team. It's hard to blame the Jazz owner for this, he had Michael Jordan who's never come close to sniffing a ring outside of the first season when his season (was) ended with a leg injury that kept him out of the the final WCF games. Since then the Jazz have been battling bouts with mediocrity and being awful. Prej decided to take fate into his own hands and moved the #3 overall pick for this once great titan. While Malone's numbers haven't dipped to Ewingeque levels, this is a huge fall from grace from his Kings days. The 4-time scoring leader has dipped to a measly 17 ppg trying to figure out to share the ball with his other former star in MJ. The Jazz still have a small opportunity to make a run and make the playoffs, but if this season was championship or bust; the Jazz are all bust.
