I'm delayed at LAX so I can take the Midwest if that's cool.

Per usual I'll be giving a lot of weight to the home team if I don't see a huge roster advantage either way. Jazz @ Mavs - The Mavs face the new look Jazz, but they look almost Taylor-made to stop this iteration of Michael's Mormons. They have two excellent perimeter defenders in Pippen and Hardaway to limit MJ. Their front-line will be able to handle Malone, and they will absolutely clean up on the boards with above average rebounders at the 3-4-5 spots. Throw in home court and I think the Mavs are the right call here. Bucks @ Rapers - The Bucks are Voltaire-deep this year and the Raptors just don't have the complement to stop the onslaught of their second unit. Bucks in a laugher in Toronto. 76ers @ Knicks - This is an interesting matchup. I think the Knicks have slightly more talent than the 76ers, but missing out on any free agents really hurts their depth. When in doubt, give it to the home team Knicks but I wouldn't be surprised if Philly pulls a small upset either. Blazers @ Rockets - The Blazers just flat-out match up well with the Rockets. The Rockets have their biggest hole at the 4 which I fully expect Danny Manning to exploit on the offensive end, while the Rockets don't have the guys to exploit Manning's lack of D at the other end of the court. The Shaq/Bradley is only a slight nod to the Rockets as you don't see many post defenders better than Bradley. They are pretty even at the 1-2-3 spots and I think Manning is the difference in a narrow Blazers victory. Magic @ Nets - this game is a close one as well. The magic can't really exploit the lack of bigs in New Jersey as Benjamin just doesn't dominate the offensive side of the ball. I think if this is next year, the Magic win big, but with Kidd/Jones still developing I'll take the Nets in another nail biter. Wolves @ Lakers - Changing of the guard out west. The lakers will have a tough time stopping webber and hill, the wolves have to contend with an outstanding guard rotation, but I think they hurt at the 4-5 spots. Give it to the Wolves for having slightly more size. Warriors @ Nuggets. Because, lawl.

10/31 - Jazz @ Mavs Both teams have talent. Mavs may have a bit more and are at home. Mavs.
11/2 - Bucks @ Raptors The Raptors D will be much improved this season but so will the Bucks in general. Youth might hurt them playing across the border in Toronto. If this game was in the Coliseum of Gay I may pick it differently, but the Raptors win at home. It's what they do.
11/3 - 76ers @ Knicks At the time of this post, neither team has a depth chart in and the Knicks are as thin as a 2 year old pogo stick due to their un-agressive offseason. But they still have some talent and are playing in NY. I want to pick the sixes here but the Knicks will still be good at home until the injury bug strikes.
11/5 - Blazers @ Rockets Great match ups across the board in this game. Shaq can be unguardable when playing at home so the Rockets will rely on the big guy here and eek out a win.
11/5 - Magic @ Nets Magic have a ton of talent and are primed to compete for a top playoff spot this season if youth (players and management) does not get in the way. Nets were a playoff team last season but will have trouble running with this young squad. Magic win a nail biter away.
11/7 - Wolves @ Lakers Lakers are the Lakers and one would be stupid to bet against them in the long term. The Wolves are the up coming team to watch out for in the West. They will rule eventually but still have to go through some growing pains to get there. L.A. will rain the 3's down on them to exploit one of the Wolves few weaknesses.
Wildcard: 11/1 - Cavs @ Celtics The Celtics will crush the Raptors on opening night and the Cavs will be the dessert served the following night.

10/31 - Jazz @ Mavs My head is telling me to pick the Mavs, but this is a closer matchup on paper than it would seem. Sherman is the petter point at this point than Magic. Jordan is still Jordan and is defending Penny who's probably the better player now, but not by much. Pippen should be able to easily exploit his matchup. I think Malone is going to handle Barkley and Sabonis has a slight edge on Smits. So that being said, i think the Mavs have the slight edge to a tie on the starting 5. They also have the better game planner and a much deeper bench. I'll take the Mavs.
11/2 - Bucks @ Raptors I have the bucks in a VERY close one and here's why. There's no alpha superstar in this game at all and the Bucks have a ton of second tier to mid level talent to throw at the Raptors. These two teams will be battling it out for the division title all year but i think the Bucks take the early lead. the Raptors have some advantages in this game though. They have Byron Russell who can shut down one (or two) of the Bucks wings, and they have alit offensive rebounding in the front court which will cause Havoc to the strong Bucks front court. Overall though, i see the Bucks having too many options to throw at the Rapts.
11/3 - 76ers @ Knicks Despite having an absentee GM, the Knicks still have a strong overall roster. The 76ers did some severe upgrades this offseason themselves, but I don't think they have enough to take D Rob at home.
11/5 - Blazers @ Rockets The Rockets have Shaq and the Blazers have maybe the second best counter to Shaq in the league. They also have Hersey Hawkins, but the Blazers have newly acquired SG and defensive standout Mark Macon. Then we move to Ron Harper, whom they'll try and cover w Jamal Mashburn. I think the Rockets have the advantage here. I think the Blazers quickly improving GM will take some time to figure their game planning out while the Rockets already know the game plan to possibly win their division.
11/5 - Magic @ Nets The Magic made a lot of bold moves to improve their roster this offseason but the Nets are no pushovers. Overall i think the Magic's strong starting 5 will be too much for the Nets even at home.
11/7 - Wolves @ Lakers Lakers gm is known for not gaf about the regular season match ups and like to toy around with the rosters. Wolves and C Webb are perpetual problems for the Lakers front court which is weaker than ever. I have the Wolves winning in a tight one.
11/1 - Cavs @ Celtics

10/31 - Jazz @ Mavs Both of these teams have new players down low. Look for the changing of the guards to be the difference as Penny is dominant this game. MAVS.
11/2 - Bucks @ Raptors The Bucks are off of a big offseason, but the Raptors have a team they know how to use. RAPTORS
11/3 - 76ers @ Knicks David Robinson decides to be dominant at home this evening. KNICKS
11/5 - Blazers @ Rockets The Blazers are such a young team that has to contend with the Shaq-tus. ROCKETS
11/5 - Magic @ Nets This game is tough. The Magic have one of the best outside combinations of Kidd, Jones, and Miler. The Nets might just have the team to stand up to those three. NETS
11/7 - Wolves @ Lakers Dennis Scott is the best player on the court, but Chris Webber goes off this game. WOLVES
Wildcard: 11/5 - Bucks @ Suns Both of these teams are coming off of a rebuild year, but the Bucks are more ready this year than the Suns are. BUCKS
