A three team race for the division, although 8.5 games back is a lot for the Heat. Celtics are the defending champions and class of the division. The three teams at the top have top tier centers and use each as the anchor of the team. The Knicks and Heat play each other twice in the final SIM of the year, which could result in the swapping of playoff positions. Wizards are currently the 8th seed in the east. Following the Wiz in playoff standings are the rest of the division. The race for the playoffs could be the excitement of the rest of the year for this division.
Predictions:
Celtics win the division by 2.5 games and earn the top seed in the East. The Knicks are the 3rd seed. Heat are 5th seed. Wizards get the 7th seed. Everyone else is lottery bound.

1. Pistons (0 GB)
2. Raptors (5.5 GB)
3. Pacers (6 GB)
4. Hornets (8.5 GB)
5. Hawks (13.5 GB)
6. Bulls (23.5 GB)
7. Bucks (27.5 GB)
8. Cavs (27.5 GB)
Pistons are leading this division with a good team. The Raptors are getting back Charles Barkley to a very powerful team that withstood the injury bug. Look for the Raptors to make a big push going forward in the season. The division comes down to the game on 4/19 of the Pistons hosting the Raptors. The Pacers and Hornets are directly behind the Raptors, but do not have the sheer talent of the two lead dogs. Both are good competitors who make the most out of the team. The Hawks are on the outside looking in of the playoffs, and unless a big injury occurs will probably be that way at the end of the season.
Predictions:
Pistons win division by 0.5 game and get the #2 seed in the East. Raptors are 4th seed in playoffs. Pacers are 6th seed. Hornets are 8th seed. Everyone else is lottery bound.

3. Grizzlies (7.5 GB)
4. TWolves (14.5 GB)
5. Spurs (18.5 GB)
6. Nuggets (22.5 GB)
7. Jazz (24.5 GB)
The Mavs are posting up quite the prolific defensive year. With the team firing on all cylinders, the division feels more like a race for second. The Rockets and Grizzlies are both in a fighting spot to take the division, but would need a big push. The excitement from the divison going forward is going to be these two teams trading spots back and forth to get the better playoff seed. The TWolves are currently in the 8th seed with a three game lead over the 9th seeded Sonics. Riding the back of Webber can allow them to make the playoffs. Spurs have an outside chance of that 8th seed, but need a lot of help.
Predictions:
Mavs win division and 2 seed in West. Rockets take 3rd seed in the West because the last 4 games are at home. Grizzlies fall to the 5th seed in the West. Twolves squeeze into the 7th seed to make the playoffs. All others are lottery bound.

4. Kings (18 GB)

6. Blazers (24.5 GB)
7. Suns (32.5 GB)
If the Midwest feels like a race for second, this division absolutely is a race for second. With only 8 losses on the season so far, the Warriors can expect to continue winning through to the end of the year. The Clippers are posting a great season, but they are known to not have as good of a season in the second half. Lakers and Kings are neck and neck for the 6th spot in the West. The Kings have a brutal last SIM while trying to hold onto a higher seed in the playoffs.
Predictions :
The Warriors take the top seed in the playoffs by 1.5 games. The Clippers surprise the world and get the 4th seed. The Lakers hold onto that 6th seed, while the Kings struggle at the end of the year, but manage to make the playoffs as the 8th seed. All others are lottery bound.
