Greetings everyone! Here on ESPN we like to bring you various broadcasted bits like First Take and SLOE Podcasts, but we are always challenging ourselves to bring new and unique ideas to the table... which brings us to this show! I present to you...the Tri-Weekly Pre-Sim Pick 'Em Panel! Before every sim, I will message 1 GM from each division and ask them to participate in this panel. I will present them with 6 match-ups each week. Each will then be tasked with the chance to pick the winners of each of their matchups. On top of those 6 picks, they will also have 1 wildcard pick, where they can pick their favorite match-up from the sim. On top of picking the winners, they must provide an argument for each pick (a few sentences would be fine).
Incentive: Everyone will get 1 point to add to their media/article write-ups. Whoever has the most correct picks will receive 1 additional point for winning (ties included).
Once the thread is posted, the participants are welcome to post their arguments for their picks WITHIN ONE POST (please). After everyone posts their picks, I will post up mine before the sim.
Let's get started on Sim 5: 12/26 - 1/8!
This sim's invited participants are...
From the Central Division... WigNosy (Hawks). From the Atlantic Division... xist2inspire (Wizards). From the Midwest Division... thesyndicate (Nuggets). From the Pacific Division... BowtotheBill (Warriors).
Don't worry, everyone will get their chance to participate!
So... onto the picks!
12/27 - Hawks @ Rockets 12/29 - Mavs @ Spurs 12/30 - Blazers @ Sonics 12/31 - Warriors @ Nuggets 1/3 - Celtics @ Wizards 1/4 - Nets @ Clippers
PLUS your wildcard pick!
So, panelists... ball is in your court! Post up your picks!
(All others, please refrain from posting until after all picks are in... THANKS!)
EDIT:
At the end of the season, I will tally the total of correct pick from each panelist and note that in their division totals. At the end of the regular season, the division with the highest total number of correct picks WINS! The prize for winning you may ask? Each team in that division will receive 5 points as a reward. These points do NOT count towards the 10-pt article max... so it's another avenue for earning training points.
Keep in mind... if you did NOT participate in at least 1 panel, you will not receive 5 points if your division wins. So if you're in it, you can win it.
EDIT 2:
My picks don't count towards the division tallies... mine are just for fun. Also that gives each division 7 teams to represent them (where as if I was included in the Central, we'd have 8 teams).

12/27 - Hawks @ Rockets The Rockets may be down a Schrempf, but they're still 13-4 at home and the Hawks are 4-9 on the road. Besides, if I get this pick wrong, it's a pleasant surprise for me. Rockets.
12/29 - Mavs @ Spurs Measuring stick game for the Spurs, and they're healthy. The Mavs are going to be trying to slide in new pieces from their recent trade with the Hornets. Going with the home team here, Spurs.
12/30 - Blazers @ Sonics Blazers are 3-8 on the road and the Sonics are 13-3 at home... and have the more complete roster in my opinion. Sonics.
12/31 - Warriors @ Nuggets By the time this game rolls around, the Warriors' injuries will be healed... and the Nuggets are trading away talent for future assets (draft picks) which don't score points right now. Warriors.
1/3 - Celtics @ Wizards Even with no 'Zo, I think the Celtics have enough talent to beat the Wizards now that they'll be able to adjust their depth chart to account for 'Zo being out. Celtics.
1/4 - Nets @ Clippers Nets are likely to sit starting PF Tyrone Hill for the sim to let him heal; that plus the Clippers are at home tells me I like L.A. Clippers.
WILDCARD: 1/3 - Mavs @ Bucks If Dallas drops this game, there will be cursing and laughter galore... and if they win this game it means I got the pick right. Talk about a win-win! Mavs.

12/27 - Hawks @ Rockets - Too much inside for the Hawks to win this one. And I think it's gonna be a long long time...ROCKETs, Man.
12/29 - Mavs @ Spurs - Instate rivalry. Gotta give it to the Spurs. The Mavs are atop the division, but I think the Spurs have finally figured their team out and are playing too well right now.
12/30 - Blazers @ Sonics - The battle of Cascadia. I'd give this one to whoever the home team was, as those places have the MOST rabid fans. Sonics take it.
12/31 - Warriors @ Nuggets - What? You were expecting me to take the Nuggets here? The Warriors have a great team, and if trade rumors swirling around Sam Bowie are true, they have enough talent to win the 'chip. With him out on IR this sim, I don't think the Warriors have any trouble taking out the Denver Allan Houstons.
1/3 - Celtics @ Wizards - The C's O against the Wizards D. Since "Offense wins games" and this is a game. I gotta give it to the C's.
1/4 - Nets @ Clippers - Fully healthy, I like the Nets here. But they have some guys that are banged up. I like the fully healthy Clippers in the battle of East vs. West.
Wildcard: 1/3 - Pistons @ Magic - The pistons engine their way through the silly misdirections and gimmicks of the Magic. Detroit, rock city, rock this game, and then goes to Disney World.

12/27 - Hawks @ Rockets Who wins?Rockets. Why?It comes down to which team's injury is worse. For the Rockets, though losing Detlef is a big blow, Dino Radja has quietly had a solid rookie season so far, and I think that he'll be able to pick up some of the slack. For the Hawks, their frontcourt is Rik Smits at C and the Smitketeers at PF. With top Smitketeer (in terms of production) George Lynch out, the Hawks will have to find some unlikely candidate to help Sean Rooks. Oh, and the Rockets have that "Diesel" fellow. And I don't mean Kevin Nash. 12/29 - Mavs @ SpursWho wins?Spurs. Why?I'm riding with the hot streak here. The Spurs, after a "meh" start to the season, have finally seemed to find some traction, winning 7 in a row. Not to mention that with having 6 players scoring in double figures (and one who's close), the Spurs may be the perfect team to stretch the Mavs' D to the limit. And with Mookie now gone, it remains to be seen how the new lineup will perform. 12/30 - Blazers @ SonicsWho wins?Sonics. Why?Seattle has Power Forwards, But poor Portland has none, With all respects to Kucoach, Stick a fork in ya, you're done. 12/31 - Warriors @ NuggetsWho wins?Warriors. Why? 1/3 - Celtics @ WizardsWho wins?Celtics. Why?Conventional wisdom says that Zo's injury puts the Wizards on equal footing with the Celtics, but reality says that the Wizards have had a problem with finding an identity since Day 1...of the 1990 season. Add that to the fact that their GM suddenly seems drained of all energy, and I just can't see the Wizards toppling the division leader. 1/4 - Nets @ ClippersWho wins?Nets. Why?Though I'd like to pick the Clippers because of Tyrone Hill's injury, I can't overlook the ultimate X factor in rookie Isaiah Rider. Good 'ol JR can go for 30+ at any time, and bah gawd, I think this might be one of those games. WILDCARD: 1/7 - Celtics @ Raptors Who wins?Raptors. Why?So it's been no secret that Sound's been a bit miffed that most don't consider his squad to be a true contender. Well, numbers don't lie, and anybody who's fighting with the Wizards for the 8th spot isn't a contender for anything other than a first-round exit. This is where that perception changes. Here is the golden opportunity, a Zo-less division leader, ripe for conquest in the Raptors' house. Sound will seize this opportunity, Barkley and Pervis will dominate, and the Raptors will prevail. If not...well, that's why people didn't pick the Raps to win the East. (All comments were meant to be in good fun, please don't take them personally. )

12/27 - Hawks @ Rockets Smits will have a bit of trouble containing Shaq in this game, but I look for the Hawks SF position to dominate this game. Hawks by 7.
12/29 - Mavs @ Spurs I know Mr Russell is a great defender, but I look for Manning to take this young cat to school. Double digit win by the Spurs. Spurs by 11.
12/30 - Blazers @ Sonics Blazers are starting to get it together after a rough start to the season. Blazers by 3.
12/31 - Warriors @ Nuggets Two words: Shawn Kemp......Warriors by 8
1/3 - Celtics @ Wizards Without Zo, Conroy is going to have to jump in his Hot Rod in order to cruise to victory in this game. Celtics can still win this game pretty handily. Celtics by 14.
1/4 - Nets @ Clippers A couple of intriguing match ups with Sprewell vs. Lewis and Hornacek vs. Rider. Should be a fun game to watch, but I can't pick against myself. Clippers by 4
WILD CARD: 12/27 Bucks @ Spurs Really not much to say but let the tank roll on. Spurs by 18.
